Feedback provided to tutee: During this tutoring session we began by going over a summary that Aziz had written for class. I helped him correct this summary by pointing to where in the article he had problems and what kind of problems they were using the note taking shorthands provided to me by Dr. Rios. Ultimately it still came down to Aziz figure out the answer, but this system worked well for us in allowing me to provide feedback while also giving Aziz the opportunity to practice correcting his own work. After this I had him perform a free writing activity in which he gave me a brief description of Ramadan. We followed a similar method of review for this activity. Additionally, I explained what his future work during our tutoring sessions may be like and why I intended to give him this kind of work. As further feedback after our tutoring session I went back and highlighted the errors in the first summary we discussed. I did this partially so Aziz could have a visual reference of his errors since he wanted to go back and rewrite the summary; In addition to wanting to practice reviewing work and using the note taking shorthands.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I would say that this lesson was certainly educational for me. This was a very rigorous exercise for me in practicing how I provide feedback. There were more than a few occasions in which I had to pause for a moment to think because I couldn't think of an explanation without simply giving a correction. This session also served as a way for me to better my own communicative skills. It was a fun mental challenge to find new ways to rephrase sentences or ideas in a way that Aziz could understand when he was confused. Though, I would say I still need much more practice in these regards.
