Date/Time: Thursday, May 6, 1:00-1:50 p.m.

Topic/Skill: Speaking

Teacher Presentation: Overview of past homework assignment and sentence structure document

Classroom Management: Felicia Ciappetta

Materials: Past Homework Assignment, Document with errors and corrections on students' sentences, Thesaurus.com

Student Participation: Professor Ciappetta opened the class by first going over the mistakes that students had made in the last class. This forced them to all get involved in the correction process. She went through and asked each student to list two things that they thought they needed to work on. Not only did this give her a better understanding of what her students felt they were struggling with, but it allowed them to feel like an part of the class rather than just an observer. One simple game that she did in this class was aimed at helping students with the difference in pronunciation between the "p" and "b" sounds. She asked each student to pick up pieces of paper and pronounce the "p" and "b" separately. The "p" sound should have forced the paper to move as air was being released while the "b" should have produced minimal movement in the paper. This was a fun activity for the students to get involved and worked well even though she was not physically in the class.
