Topic Discussed: Various conversations with international students 

Cultural and/or Linguistic Topics you and your partner learned: For this conversation partner session, I chose to attend the grill/ping pong get-together that the administration of CIES put together. It was a great way for me to just get to know all of the international students that are currently taking ESL classes at FSU. I had the chance to speak with Husaam, Aziz and Fahad where we talked about what it is like living in a Middle Eastern country. I learned about some of the technicalities of Ramadan and spent time in a deep conversation with Husaam discussing the implications of the attack on the twin tours on Saudi Arabian culture. I talked with Ryan Flemming about his experience pursuing a Masters in ESL education which was helpful for me in determining whether or not I see myself doing this in the long-term. It was amazing to see Fahad, Saleh, and Husaam do traditional Arabic and then Venezuelan dances in front of the entire group. At the end of this party, I got to meet Paola and learned more about Venezuelan culture. She informed me that one place I must visit is Angel Falls, nestled in the mountains of Canima.
