Date/Time: Wednesday, May 11, 9 a.m.

Location: Zoom

Topic/Skill: Casual Conversation Tactics / Verbal Grammar Check

Feedback Provided to Tutee: Today was used more as a benchmark for where DoJun's spoken grammar is currently at. I recorded him as we went through the lesson and the dialogue that I had created. As we went through,  I would not certain grammar mistakes that he makes often. However, for the most part, I wanted him to just speak freely so I could identify where he makes the most common mistakes. I asked him to describe scenes from the video that was played (form Pursuit of Happiness) and gave him feedback on his accuracy and alternative ways to describe certain things.

Lessons about the tutoring and/or the tutee that you learned: Today, I learned South Korea hasn't participated in Daylight Savings since 1988, when the Olympics was held in Seoul. I found this extremely interesting. I also learned to improvise a bit in the middle of a lesson as DoJun's wifi connection was going in and out, making it difficult to administer the video that I had planned on using for our lesson. I, again, found that I was having trouble fitting everything I wanted to cover in just an hour. I want to begin targeting my lessons at more specific grammar points so that there is more focus in each of our sessions.
