Date/Time: May 5th, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. to 11:50 A.M.

Topic Skills: Reading/Writing Skills

Teacher Presentation: Olivia James

Classroom Management: All of the students were online for this class. The instructor (Olivia James) managed the classroom by asking questions to spark conversation. As listed, this class time focused on reading skills. The students had to read an academic article titled, "Can Listening to Music Help Control Pain?". The instructor wanted students to (1) analyze the main ideas and paraphrase each paragraph, (2) describe methodologies, (3) review vocabulary, and (4) take a vocabulary quiz on terms. She used an inductive teaching style by asking questions about the article the students read. The students wrote responses and she gave feedback on them. For terms that were difficult, she highlighted them in a different color and provided pronunciation for the words. For example, "questionnaire' (qwes-chun-nairz)."

Materials: Based on the fully online learning environment, the instructor only used Google Docs applications for the class. It should also be noted that she used the paper that the students were required to read.

Student Participation: All of the students participated by answering questions the instructor had regarding the article. Prior to this class, all of the students also participated by summarizing the article through writing. The instructor read each student's summaries and gave proper feedback to them. A large amount of feedback from the instructor came from being more detailed in their writing. As previously mentioned, the instructor asked questions about their writing. This allowed the instructor to measure how well they comprehended the reading piece. At the end of class, she wanted students to think about the impact of the experiment.
