Topic Skills: Writing and Speaking Skills
Feedback provided to the tutee: Je-won was able to tell the time including using phrases like "quarter to" and "half past" in speaking. He also knew all of the conjugations for the verb "be," including its negative form and contraction forms. These two areas were review to further grasp these concepts. Aside from this, I introduced question words to him.
Lessons about tutoring and/or tutee learned: Questions words (who, what, how, etc...), Phrases in telling the time, and review on contractions, negatives, and present tense form of "be" verb
Tutee: Je-won Lee
For this Monday morning session, I wanted to review concepts we were learned the week prior and introduce questions words to him. I feel as though it is incredibly important to recognize different questions and what they mean. In knowing what "who" and "how" question words suggest, he can have greater context to how he should answer these questions. After reviewing these question words, I provided example questions and answers. After we reviewed some examples, I then asked him questions using each type of question word. In regard to telling the time, the newer area I introduced was telling the time with minutes involved. In prior sessions, we focused on "half past" and "quarter to," but now we focused on time with specific minutes, like 4:28 in the afternoon. The goal is to continue to build off of material from each tutoring session.
