 Before this and the previous tutoring session, Dave's mother reached out to me about how they could not to the normal meeting times last week because they went on a family vacation. This immediately gave me the idea to make another writing prompt where Dave can recall his family vacation. For this writing exercise, I provided the prompt and then I wrote out my example response with him. I explained my writing and thought process as I wrote, and pointed out verb tenses and transition words and phrases. After I was done, I wanted to monitor Dave's writing process so we wrote it together on our shared google doc. By doing this, we were able to write a longer response, fix grammatical errors as he wrote, and finish by the time our session ended. We did this by me asking guiding questions and going through his response sentence by sentence.
