For this tutoring session with Dave, I decided to try a new resource with him to help improve his grammar. I found a website called englishforeveryone.org that offers free prints of ESL practice material. The category that most caught my eye was the paragraph correction. The paragraph correction practice sheets gave a paragraph with substantial grammatical errors. The grammatical errors are underlined and numbered, and there are options at the bottom of the sheet for the student to pick from. I began this practice by asking Dave to read the original paragraph aloud, so that he can hopefully hear out the grammatical errors. I chose an intermediate level sheet, and he was able to understand the grammatical corrections with minimal difficulty. I was able to teach him, though, about the Oxford Comma and why it is acceptable to add or not add a comma at the end of a list of actions or nouns.
