Topic Skills: Grammar and Reading Skills

Feedback provided to the tutee: I am always impressed by how quick my tutee picks up on new material. When I was learning Spanish around his age, I feel as though I did not pick up as fast as he has. I can tell his listening skills are starting to grow more by the way he responds and interacts with the new aspects he is learning in our tutoring sessions.

Lessons about tutoring and/or tutee learned: Why- Questions, Subjects in School, and Possessive Adjectives

I try to coordinate the length of the tutoring sessions by how my tutee feels on the particular day. I feel as though it is incredibly important to not overwhelm him when he is feeling tired. Therefore, this week my tutoring sessions have been much shorter than in prior lessons. For this day, he restructured questions that were out of order. This will aid him in learning how to structure sentences and questions. Afterwards, I reviewed Wh- type questions with him, as I introduced them to him last week. After this, I taught possessive adjectives. This was simply an introduction, so I provided an explanation and then applied them through answering certain types of questions. Afterwards, I ended this tutoring session with a reading. This reading incorporated vocabulary pertaining to subjects in school. In order to evaluate his comprehension of the reading, we went over a set of comprehension questions that were based on the reading.
