Topic/Skill: English level assessment, introduction

Feedback provided to tutee: Hang-ah-Kim, or Hannah, has very good English skills. She is very advanced in her English skills, although a few minor mistakes with writing, which I corrected in the assessment. Throughout the sessions I told Hannah that I will try to correct her speaking if she makes any mistakes and of course in writing as well. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: This first session was of course nerve racking because I had never tutored anyone before, especially in English. Once Hannah got on the zoom, it was super easy to talk to her. We started the meeting with getting to know each other. Hannah is from South Korea, but now lives in Tallahassee with her husband and is a teacher. She told me she wants to study and better her English to help with any future jobs. I also asked her if there is anything specific, she wanted me to teach her or help her with throughout these sessions. She informed me that she wanted to do a bit of everything, mostly writing and speaking though. She told me she doesn’t really speak English at home, which is why she wants to work on her speaking. She seemed very excited for these sessions and as was I!
