Feedback provided to tutee: Hannah had specifically asked me to give her a lesson in slang terms and idioms. She wanted to learn the way Americans spoke on a regular day to day basis. So, I dedicated this whole tutoring session to working on slang terms with Hannah. She really enjoyed this because It is what she mostly wanted to learn within these lessons.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: So, for this lesson I researched the most common slang terms and phrases and used ones that I already to compile a list to teach to Hannah. I started out the discussion by asking her if she knew any slang terms from the top of her head, and she couldn’t really think of any, so I shared my screen with her to show her my list of slang words. I first asked her if she recognized any and knew what they meant. For the ones she did I had her give me an example of it being used in a sentence to make sure she really knew it. For the rest of the phrases and words I would give her an example and she deciphered what each of them meant. I learned that she did not know many of these, which I was surprised about. She was very grateful and excited to use this new vocabulary.
