Topic/Skill: Listening/ Ted Talk

Feedback provided to tutee: I told Hannah that during this lesson, I wanted her to take some notes on this ted talk that we watched about if schools kill creativity, which was a very interesting topic. We watched the video and she took notes because after I asked her some questions on the video and she answered them all very well, with a few minor mistakes in her speaking, but I corrected her.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that in a Ted Talk there are lots of advanced vocabulary that a foreign student would not understand. I realized this once she asked me about certain terms that were mentioned within the video. I felt so bad because I didn’t realized there would be so much that was difficult to understand, but she assured me that it was mostly the jokes the speaker made that were difficult to comprehend. So, since we ran out of time, I told her to watch the video again and write down the things she didn’t understand and send it to me, so that the next session we can go over them.
