Morgan TS #9
Date/Time: Tuesday, June 1, 6:30 p.m.
Location: Zoom
Topic/Skill: Modal auxillary verbs (advisory)- ought to, need to, has to
Feedback Provided to Tutee: I prepared a presentation describing these specific modal auxillary verbs and how they are properly used in English sentence structure. Hussam was very excited to be learning more about these expressions because he notices how much they are used in everyday communication among native English speakers. the presentation then provided some examples and activities where Hussam could pick which auxillary verb is appropriate for the sentence and situation. He generally did well with picking which verb to use, but needed some correction with the tenses of the verbs necessary after the auxillary verb.
Lessons about the tutoring and/or the tutee that you learned: It is really nice to leave a tutoring session feeling like I also learned a lot about English. If I was asked to describe modal auxillary verbs prior to taking this class, I would definitely struggle to and would need some assistance. Hussam is very advanced so it took a while to find activities and lessons that where very challenging for him. It was very nice to see that a lesson was really helpful for him and helped him gain that understanding.
